STS, Technical Scientific Software, began in Catania in 1984, in a volcanic area. Before, our intentions were halfway between a research activity to be an end in itself and a bet with the future. In this spirit, the first CDS (structural calculation) was developed, contemporarily to the first ACRC calculation and accounting), and the first installations began, in an era in which the personal computer was still an aparage for few eccentric spendthrifters. Later though, things started to take a precise path: demand began to increase, judgements on the programs were enthusiastic and most all, the starting point of CDS and ACR was excellent, therefore the company could go very far in the future with increments and improvements. With patience, the 4 founding partners continued to work on their basic products, up to the point of making CDS become the current modern and appreciated calculation structural tool that now claims thousands of installations distributed on the entire national territory, while ACR today represents a standard for metric calculation and for accounting. With time, other programs have been added for the calculation of masonry buildings, support works, geotecnics, topography and everything else that is useful in the field of civil engineering. The principle location is in Sant Agata Li Battiati (Catania), and has a total of 20 employees, amongst engineers, programmers and employees in the commercial activities. Assistance to programs or sales can also be done via STS premises or authorized dealers that are found in every region in Italy.
